Portland Day 1

Still waiting
All of our meals this trip were at no reservation places since we were traveling with Harvey.  We missed out on a few restaurants I wanted to try, but overall everyplace we tried was excellent.

After brunch at Duckfat, we just started walking along the Portland Arts District.  It was a really hot day but the sights were really pretty so it wasn't too bad.

Despite it's being just after brunch, we made a stop at The Standard Baking Co. because of all the rave reviews.  I bought a couple of pastries for breakfast the next day.

Portland is known for its beaches, so of course we had to visit a few.  This was Crescent Beach.  It wasn't as busy as York Beach and I think Harvey enjoyed himself even more here.  The weather was better as well.

Ah!  These were the evil birds that stole our leftover beignets from Duckfat when I briefly left our beach towel to go take photos.  I was really annoyed!  Those beignets were really good!

After spending time at the beach, it was time for dinner.  We joined the long line at The Lobster Shack at Two Lights and it was totally worth the wait!

We ordered a lobster roll (best lobster roll I've ever had!), deep fried clams, clam chowder, and a side of blueberry pie.

Harvey enjoyed the clams and the fries.

This is Portland Headlight.  It's visible from The Lobster Shack and is considered the most photographed lighthouse in the world.

The LL Bean Boot
We were pretty tired after the day's activities but decided to head on down to the LL Bean store in Freeport, Maine. The LL Bean Store is considered a tourist attraction and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Look how huge the place actually is!

By the time time we were done with LL Bean, Harvey was exhausted, and we were all happy to drive back to the apartment we rented.
