Harvey Kai turns 1!

Catching up posts as usual. Taken on March 16, 2012.  I can't believe it's been a year since Harvey was born!  He's getting to be quite the character.  He's still a happy and cheerful boy, but he's gotten really active lately!  As you can see from the above photos, it's not easy getting him to hold the numbers up anymore for his monthly photos.

If we lived in Manila, a first birthday would entail holding a big party.  In fact, my mom wanted us to celebrate Harvey's 1st birthday early when we were in Manila just so he could have the big party, but I thought celebrating it at 10 months might be a bit early, heh-heh.  She's already made me promise to go back in March next year so he can celebrate there.

Here, we kept it simple and just celebrated as a family.  We took Harvey to Boston for the day and had a simple brunch, brought him to the New England Aquarium, and had dinner with some friends.

Happy 1st Birthday, Harvey Kai!

Of course, no 1st birthday is complete without a birthday cake!  This delicious mango cake with mango mousse filling was made by one of my elementary school classmates from Manila.  Who knew we would reconnect here in Massachusetts and that she would have her own bakery, Keyks?  The cake was so good that even my husband, who's not a huge fan of sweets, was full of praises.
