Harvey's 1st month
Harvey's 1st month

I'm not certain why, but in Chinese tradition, it's customary to celebrate baby's one month anniversary.  Being first time parents, DH and I were excited to celebrate with Harvey, despite not having any family close by.  We bought a cake, wore red (another birthday tradition), and took lots of pictures.

These photos were taken a month ago (yes, I still haven't caught up with my backlog) and looking at them now, it's amazing how fast babies grow!  I don't think Harvey can fit into that outfit anymore!

  2. Oh my, what a cute baby!

I think its very common with Asians to celebrate baby's milestone. Like my cousins and my sister-in-law (we're Filipinos), they buy their babies cakes EVERY month! Other cultures don't get it. Some find it a little too lavish....or just plain weird. LOL. I think it's cute.

  3. Kaye, I grew up in Manila. :)

I briefly thought about buying cakes every month, then I came to my senses, haha. I would probably gain 5 lbs each month because of it since I'm the only one in this household who really enjoys cake :)
